Governor Evers’ grants to get people back to work are likely months away.
The governor told reporters in Green Bay last week that he doesn’t expect the biggest part of his 130-million-dollar workforce initiative to be ready until the fall. The governor says it will take that long to find partners for the grants. The governor is offering both grants and subsidies to companies looking to hire people throughout the state. Business groups in Wisconsin say the governor could get people back to work right away by canceling the 300 dollars a week in enhanced federal unemployment benefits.
