Looking Local: Gift Supports Chippewa Mentoring Program

Mentor Chippewa has received a $17,000 gift from the Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation, made possible through the Foundation’s 2026 Golf Outing held June 13.

Mentor Chippewa was one of the organizations selected to benefit from this year’s event, which brought together community members to celebrate Amanda Geissler’s legacy and raise funds for organizations

making a difference in the lives of children and families.

“Amanda was the greatest mentor, and to have the opportunity to give back to an organization that shares

the same mission and passion for supporting youth is very fitting for her legacy and the foundation,” said Tracy Lau, Board Member of the Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation.

The gift will provide flexible support for Mentor Chippewa’s school-based mentoring program during the 2026–27 school year. Funds will help recruit and train caring adult mentors, provide activities and resources

for mentor-mentee matches, and support additional mentoring matches in the community.

Mentor Chippewa expects to serve approximately 100 local youth during the 2026–27 school year throughone-on-one mentoring relationships. Mentors meet one-on-one with students during the school day, providing consistent, caring support to youth who may benefit from an additional trusted adult in their lives.

“Consistent mentoring relationships can make a tremendous difference for youth who need additional

support. Having a caring, trusted adult show up for them week after week can help youth feel supported, encouraged, and connected. This gift will help us continue building those meaningful relationships with local

youth,” said Erin Gregory, Program Director, Mentor Chippewa.

“This generous gift also gives us the resources to recruit and train more mentors, strengthen our existing

matches, and reach additional youth in our community. Every new mentor we bring into our schools represents another opportunity for a young person to have a caring adult in their corner,” said Lisa Husom,
Executive Director, Mentor Chippewa.

Mentor Chippewa is grateful to the Amanda Geissler Memorial Foundation, the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and community members who made this gift possible. Their generosity will help ensure more

local youth have access to caring adult relationships that can help them build confidence, resilience, and

hope.
