The Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild is in the spirit of the season with A Christmas Story running December 6th through the 15th at The Grand Theatre.
Humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940’s follows young Ralphie in his quest for a Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle as he pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus. “You’ll shoot your eye out!”
This enjoyable stage version includes all the beloved movie elements including the temperamental furnace, the bunny suit, bully Scut Farcus, the playground lamppost, and the infamous leg lamp.
A holiday treat for the whole family!
Trivia: So while this story is fictional, the main characters are based on people Jean Shepherd knew growing up in Hammond, Indiana—his brother Randy, his parents Jean Sr. and Anne, his second grade teacher Ruth Shields, and his childhood friends Jack Flickinger and Paul Schwartz.
