A fire on Monroe Street caused about $20,000 in damages.
The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire Saturday evening on the North side. The initial dispatch reported a fire in the garage of a residence and the occupants were advised to evacuate. Truck 8 was the first arriving apparatus and found smoke and fire coming from the garage. They quickly deployed a fire attack hose line and extinguished the fire. Later arriving crews performed searches and ventilation was required to remove smoke from the interior of the home.
