Woman Pleads No Contest in Cemetery Thefts

A Wisconsin woman will be going to jail for sixty days for stealing from cemeteries.

Carrie Thompson of Green County pleaded no contest to five charges of receiving or concealing stolen property, in exchange for 35 additional charges to be dismissed. The Monroe Police Department says the items stolen were often sentimental and left in memory of a loved one. One detective says Thompson was trying to sell some of the items on Facebook Marketplace.  Police say affected cemeteries were in both Green and Rock Counties.
