Child Care Industry Has Budget Concerns

Department of Children and Families Secretary Emilie Amundson says planned budget cuts are likely to hit the child care industry hard.

She addressed the topic while visiting and touring the Yahara River Learning Center in DeForest yesterday.  Amundson says the choice by GOP lawmakers in the state budget committee to pass on renewing the Child Care Counts program is eliminating three-hundred-40-million dollars in financial support for care and education centers.  She adds that facility closures and rate increases may be on the way when federal funding runs out in six months.
