Wisconsin Among States Testing For Lead Exposure

The Environmental Protection Agency is planning to increase testing of kids for lead exposure.

The Journal of the American Medical Association says Wisconsin is one of six states that have blood-lead levels over double the national average.  The CDC says some groups of children are more often exposed to lead, including non-Hispanic Black children and children living under the national poverty level.  Childhood exposure to lead can damage the brain and nervous system and lead to learning, hearing, speech, and behavior problems.
