WI Lawmakers Tackle Covid-19 Immunity, Health Officials Urge Vaccines, Hospitalizations Up

There is a push to put natural coronavirus immunity on the same level as coronavirus vaccinations and regular testing in Wisconsin.

Lawmakers at the Capitol this week heard testimony on a plan that would give people who’ve already recovered from the coronavirus credit. The idea is to allow people to show proof of natural immunity, just like they’d show proof of vaccination or proof of regular testing if there is a coronavirus vaccine mandate in the state. Supporters say there need to be options that give people a choice other than ‘get the shot, or lose your job.’

We will show you different sides so you can decide, as health officials maintain that getting your coronavirus shot is still the best thing you can do to stay protected from the virus.

Wisconsin’s public health managers continue to say that as coronavirus cases in the state continue to increase. The state’s Department of Health Services reported over 11-thousand new coronavirus cases yesterday. The state’s Doctor Ryan Westergaard says getting vaccinated won’t stop you from getting the virus, but it will lessen the impacts if you do test positive.

This, as Wisconsin is ending the week with over 300-more people in the hospital with the coronavirus than the week before.

The state’s Hospital Association yesterday said there are just over two thousand people in the hospital with the virus in the state. That’s up 345 people from this point last week. The Hospital Association says 475 people are in ICUs across the state. That number is up from last week as well.
