WI Schools Pull Pandemic Pivots

Kids in Milwaukee Public Schools will be learning from home for at least the next week because of the spike in coronavirus cases.

The district yesterday said it plans to have kids learn from home until next Monday. Part of the pause is to allow students and teachers to be tested for the coronavirus before returning to their classrooms. MPS is turning six of its school buildings into testing sites this week. You can find that list online.

School leaders in Madison are telling parents they hope to be back for in-person classes soon.

Madison Metropolitan schools are returning to online learning this week, though just for Thursday and Friday. Kids were supposed to report back to class today, but Madison schools are dealing with the spike in coronavirus cases. The hope is to be able to return to in-person classes next week.

School kids in Beloit are getting at least one more day of Christmas break.

The city’s school district is canceling classes for today because there are not enough bus drivers to get the kids to school. No one is saying if the shortage is tied to the recent spike in the number of coronavirus cases across the state. Beloit schools are not saying when they expect to have more drivers available.
