Add Eau Claire’s fire department to the list of people warning about a t-shirt scam.
Firefighters say they are not selling t-shirts to raise money and say texts that offer the shirts are a scam. The texts come through with an official looking number, and offer a link to a limited-edition shirt for sale. Deputy Fire Chief Allyn Bertrang says he got one of the scam texts yesterday. He wants to make it clear that there are no shirts for sale, and everyone should delete any scam texts they get.
