EEE Confirmed in Calumet Co. Horse

Health officials in Calumet County say a horse tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis also known as EEE.

It’s the first confirmed case in the county and the third in the state this year.  EEE is transmitted by mosquitoes and can infect people.  There is a vaccine for EEE available for horses but not for humans.
