School Plans to Cover Mural

The ‘Love is Universal’ mural in Cedarburg’s Webster Middle School is going away.

The school district sent a letter home to parents yesterday, explaining that crews will paint over the mural that has caused some strife. Some parents aren’t happy with the LGBTQplus theme of the mural, saying it’s not appropriate for middle school students, while other parents say the mural is fine. The school board’s letter to parents says the district never signed-off on the final design and message, but that a faculty advisor pushed ahead anyway. The school board says the mural was supposed to be inclusive and added that some members of the community were left out. There’s no word on when the mural will be painted over.
