Dane Co. Hits Milestone, Green Bay Votes to Mask

It is a major coronavirus-vaccine milestone for Dane County.

Public Health Madison and Dane County yesterday said 70- percent of people in the county have now gotten at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Public Health director Janel Heinrich says 67- percent of people in the county are fully vaccinated. Heinrich says Dane County’s numbers are even better if you look only at the people who are eligible for the vaccine. Statewide in Wisconsin, just over 51-percent of people have gotten one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Some kids in Green Bay schools will have to wear a mask when they return to class, but others can choose for themselves.

Green Bay’s school board last night voted to require masks for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Kids in seventh grade through high school can choose to wear a mask if they’d like. The move is similar to the latest CDC recommendations that suggest masks for unvaccinated students. Board president Eric Vanden Heuvel says they wanted to find a compromise with their new policy.
