WI Coronavirus Cases Tick Up, Local Officials Urge Frontline Vaccines

Eau Claire’s health department wants to make sure all healthcare workers in the county get the coronavirus vaccine.

Health director Lieske Giese yesterday said workers at unaffiliated healthcare offices, mainly people who do not work for one of Eau Claire’s major hospitals, should get the shot as well. Giese said the idea is to protect all frontline healthcare workers before offering the vaccine to other people in the community.

Wisconsin’s latest coronavirus count is inching up. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported just over 34-hundred new positives. The state’s seven-day positive count is up to over 11-percent. That is far less than the peak back in November, but is up from under 10-percent just a few weeks ago.
