A man from Gambia is becoming the first Muslim person elected to the Wisconsin State Legislature.
Forty-nine-year-old Samba Baldeh will be representing the 48th Assembly District in the state Assembly. Baldeh says it’s important to have a voice representing people of color, immigrants and Muslims at the table and to be heard. He says he plans to work to address the pandemic, economy and systemic racism. He is prioritizing access to quality healthcare, good food and education for children.
