Dane Co. Poised to Purchase Cropland for Conservation Goals

Dane County is set to make its largest conservation purchase.

Officials plan to use 3 million-dollars to buy 160 acres of  mostly cropland from the Riser family.  The property covers areas near Sugar River Natural Resource Area and the Badger Mill Natural Resource Area.  The purchase of the land will allow the county to guard against flooding and create outdoor recreational space.

The county board will have to approve the resolution before the deal is done.
