IT’S A “GO” AT OUR POLLS

IT’S A “GO” AT OUR POLLS

Voters across Wisconsin will vote today, and they can vote in-person.

There was some back and forth yesterday after Governor Evers tried to postpone the vote until June. But, that won’t happen.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court yesterday evening overruled Governor Tony Evers and today there will be in-person voting. The United States Supreme Court then ruled last night that absentee ballots sent after today will not count. In political terms, it seems both rulings upset Democrats in Wisconsin and across the country and on the other side of the aisle, Republicans say the courts sided with the state’s election laws.

If you do plan to vote today, you can expect to see measures in place to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus and keep workers and voters safe.

The Wisconsin National Guard says as many as 24-hundred guardsmen have been trained to work as poll workers. More than 60-percent of Wisconsin cities and counties say they do not have enough people to work the polls for today’s election. Guard commanders say the troops will wear civilian clothes, will work in their home counties, and will do the job that volunteers usually do on Election Day.

Polls will be open from 7am-8pm today and results can be expected next week.
