A criminal complaint reveals that the man accused of abducting Jayme Closs and killing her parents allegedly confessed to the crimes.
The complaint today says Jake Paterson confessed to killing James and Denise Closs in October before kidnapping 13-year-old Jayme. Patterson reportedly told investigators he chose to kidnap Jayme at random after stopping behind a school bus on US Highway 9 and seeing her get off. The teenager escaped her kidnapper from a cabin in Gordon on Thursday and was able to run for help.
Information disclosed in a criminal complaint in the kidnapping of Jayme Closs reveals the teen was with her mother when the mom was shot and killed. The record shows Jayme and her mother were hiding in a bathroom when Jake Patterson shot and killed her father. He then broke down the bathroom door and killed the mother before dragging the teenager out to the trunk of his car. Patterson has allegedly told police he selected Jayme at random after watching her get off a school bus he was stopped behind one day.
