Wisconsin Women in Conservation (WiWiC) is hosting a women’s field day in Amery on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 1-4pm, at Blackbrook Farm. Co-owner Ayla Graden-Dodge, who is a WiWiC Conservation Coach, will lead a farm tour, which will be followed by networking time and a farm-sourced snack. Facebook Scammers Not Your Friend

A large number of fraudulent messages claiming to be Facebook customer service representatives or automated customer service systems have recently been reported to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection’s (DATCP) Bureau of Consumer Protection. Truck Vs. Mini Bike Crash in Jackson Co.

A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper and Jackson County Deputy responded to a pick-up truck vs.mini-bike crash on County Road C in the Town of Albion. Both of the unit’s involved in the crashwere traveling east on County Road C when the male subject that was driving the mini-bike turnedleft into his driveway. The pick-up truck struck the back of the mini-bike causing the driver to fall offwhich resulted in injury. The driver of the mini-bike was airlifted from the scene.

New Charges Against Chippewa Co. Woman

There are now shoplifting charges against the Chippewa County mom charged in her son’s death. Prosecutors on Monday charged Natasha Bratland with stealing from the Walmart in Lake Hallie. Police say she stole about 40 dollars’ worth of items. Bratland is looking at child neglect charges in Taylor County after her son was hit by a train last summer. Police say Bratland told them she was already going to prison, so she didn’t think stealing from Walmart would make much

Sex Offender To Be Released in Eau Claire

There’s a warning about a sex offender who is being released in Eau Claire. The Eau Claire Police Department says David Lyons will be released from prison next Tuesday. He will be on GPS monitoring while living at a home on Randall Street. Lyons was convicted of first degree sexual assault of a child in Manitowoc County back in 1996, he had a previous sexual assault conviction back in 1992.

Dollar General Reopens

They’ve cleaned-up the Dollar General in Cadott enough to reopen the store. Local firefighters closed the store over the weekend because they said there were too many boxes in the aisles, and it was a fire hazard. Firefighters yesterday said the store can now reopen.

Concerns Return Over Bird Flu

There are worries about the return of the bird flu in the Midwest. The USDA is monitoring after a flock of turkeys in Meeker County, Minnesota tested positive for the bird flu this week. Meeker County is west of the Twin Cities. Wisconsin hasn’t seen a bird flu case since May. Wisconsin ordered nearly three million birds destroyed because of the bird flu outbreak this spring.

State Election’s Commission Seeks New Office

Wisconsin’s election managers want a million-and-a-half dollars to deal with an uptick in election complaints. The state’s Elections Commission yesterday asked lawmakers for the money to create an Office of Inspector General. Commission administrator Meagan Wolfe says they need both the money and the I-G’s office because they had 50 complaints about the 2020 election. State Rep.
