Most of the oil that leaked into the Flambeau River last November has been cleaned-up. Dairyland Power Cooperative said in a report to the state’s Department of Natural Resources that crews have cleaned most of the river that was impacted by the leak at the Dairyland Flowage Dam. Crews were able to take roughly 20 55-gallon drums of oil-impacted water out of the river.

A fire at the Associated Milk Producers facility in Portage on Monday melted 20 gallons of butter . That butter washed into the sewers, and is now causing problems at Portage’s wastewater treatment plant. DNR regulators say there’s been a minimal impact from the butter spill on the environment. Firefighters in Portage aren;t sure yet just what caused the fire.

Wis-DOT says crews will close the freeway at 11 p.m. tonight to replace parts of the railroad bridge near the Zoo Interchange in Wauwatosa. The closure will last til 6 a.m. Sunday.
