Cheers To a (safe) New Years!

 If you’re going to be out on New Year’s Eve there’s a program in Wisconsin to help people get home safe.  The Tavern League of Wisconsin is offering SafeRide, which is designed to keep drunk drivers off Wisconsin roads.  On the Tavern League website you can find member bars that will help you find a ride home.  The Tavern League says the program has provided over one-million rides since 2004.

Court Rules In Favor Of Candy, Cookies

Wisconsinites are no longer limited to selling only baked goods from home.  Dane County Circuit Court Judge Rhonda Lanford ruled this week that other nonhazardous food items can be made and sold from home without a commercial license or kitchen.  That includes things like candy, cocoa bombs, fried donuts, and roasted coffee beans.  The judge’s ruling against the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection specified that sales have to be made in Wisconsin, person to person.

Multiple Agencies Respond to Dairy Farm Fire

Crews from ten fire agencies worked into the evening Friday to control a fire that destroyed a barn on a Sun Prairie dairy.  The fire at Statz Brothers Farm on County Road V-V was reported shortly before 4 p.m. and flames were still pouring out through the roof more than an hour later.  About four-dozen cows were moved safely out of the barn.  Firefighters from Sun Prairie, Marshall, Cottage Grove, Deerfield, Waterloo, Waunakee, Dane, McFarland, Lake Mills, and Truax responded

Chase Tops 100MPH, Ends In Arrest

On 12/30/22 at approximately 12:20 am Martise Terrell Craig from Lithia Springs GA was arrested after fleeing from law enforcement in a high-speed pursuit. Mr. Craig was suspected of stealing a vehicle at knifepoint in Minnesota. Troopers located the stolen vehicle on Interstate 94 eastbound near milepost 28. A pursuit ensued shortly after troopers attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle. Speeds reached 119 mph. The pursuit continued eastbound on interstate 94 through Dunn County coming to the city of Menomonie.

Search For Murder Suspect Continues

Police in Eau Claire are once again asking for help in finding a murder suspect from back in September. Investigators yesterday asked for help in finding Kemone Golden. He is one of three suspects in the killing of Christopher Conner, but he is the only one on the run. Detectives say Conner died after a fight that followed a night of bar hopping. Anyone with any information about Golden is being asked to call Crime Stoppers.

Three Facing Charges in Murder of WI Mailman

It’s federal charges for three people in connection to this month’s murder of a Milwaukee mailman. The U.S. Attorney’s Office yesterday announced charges in the killing of Aundre Cross. He was gunned down while delivering mail back on December 9th. Investigators found the three by tracking the silver Audi seen near the shooting scene. Prosecutors say Cross’ killing may have something to do with drugs. One of the suspects was arrested with a large amount of marijuana, and the criminal

Buffalo Co. Confirms CWD

Wisconsin’s latest case of chronic wasting disease is in wild deer in the western part of the state. The state’s Department of Natural Resources yesterday confirmed a case of CWD in a deer in Buffalo County. A hunter bagged the two-year-old doe. This is the first case of CWD in wild deer in Buffalo County. The case means another three-year ban on feeding and baiting deer in the county.

WI Speaker Not On Board For Trump Nomination

The top Republican in the Wisconsin Assembly says he wants to make sure that former President Trump is not the Republican nominee in the next election. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos told  the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he will work to stop Trump in 2024.
