State records show a history of problems at that Waukesha school at the center of a child abuse investigation.   Wisconsin’s Department of Children & Families’ website shows 59 violations at the Lawrence School since January of 2020.  The violations include everything from health and safety standard problems to one case where workers found a loaded gun inside the school’s office.  The state has revoked the school’s license.  Police began investigating the school after a report that a teacher slammed a

Eau Claire’s new transit hub will be more expensive and take longer to complete. Planners yesterday said the new home for buses in the city won’t open until at least June of 2024. The hub was supposed to open in September of next year. Eau Claire economic development director Aaron White says the project has been challenging from the get-go, and continues to be challenging today.

Monica Lewinsky is coming to speak at UW-Eau Claire. The university yesterday said Lewinsky will speak as part of The Forum at Zorn Arena next month. Lewinsky often speaks about shame and reclaiming your identity. She became famous as a White House intern at 22-years-old for her affair with then-President Bill Clinton. Tickets for her speech at UW-Eau Claire are now on sale.

The USDA wants to look at farm chemical use and production costs on Wisconsin farms. The agency yesterday said it will look at wheat and potato farms in the state as part of its Agricultural Resource Management Survey. The hope is to get an on-the-ground look at what farmers need, what they are paying, and how they are managing their crops. The first phase of the survey began back in May, and it will last through April of next year.

There is another report of another gator in another Wisconsin park.  The state’s Department of Natural Resources yesterday said it searched a pond at Reigle Family Park in Kewaskum after getting reports of an alligator.  DNR says it didn’t find anything yesterday, but officers do believe there is a gator in the pond.  They say the gator was likely someone’s pet which was released.  DNR is now asking the public to help get a picture of the gator so they can help

There will be a Hunting Tree Stand Rescue Training this evening at Rocque Ridge Outfitters, 30965 StateHighway 27, Holcombe,WI 54745 starting at 6:30pm. The training will be conducted from 6:30pm to 8:30pm (about two hours total). The training is for local Fire Department and EMS rescue services to practice tree stand rescue techniques.  Vice President Kamala Harris is coming to Wisconsin this week.  Harris will be in Milwaukee Thursday to talk with Latino leaders in the area and speak at the Democratic Attorneys General Association Conference.

Madison’s Freakfest celebration is canceled for the third year in a row.  ‘This year the mayor’s office and the Downtown Madison Business Association say not enough downtown businesses supported the event.  The event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of high coronavirus numbers.
