UW-Madison’s new chancellor UW-Madison marked her investiture Friday with a new ice cream flavor named for her.  The Babcock Hall Dairy Plant celebrated Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin’s investiture by serving Mnookie Dough ice cream along with other flavors during a community picnic following the ceremony.  Mnookie Dough is vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookie dough bites and fudge caramel swirls.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office has released limited details about a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Authorties responded along with the Chippewa Fire District to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in the Town of Lafayette. The adult female struck by the vehicle succumb to her injuries at the hospital. The investigation is on-going, the operator  of the vehicle has been cooperative with Law Enforcement and the incident remains under investigation.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect today for a focused area in Wisconsin.  It includes La Crosse and the Wisconsin Dells at the southern end and, at the northern edge, just south of Eau Claire to just south of Wausau.  Madison is NOT included in today’s Red Flag Warning.  Firefighters have been fighting two wildfires in the region.  The Jack Pine Fire near Necedah is now contained. But for this week’s Friday Feel Good we visited a route that turned two workers into hero’s.  Two garbage men are being called heroes after saving the lives of 15 people when multiple homes caught fire in Central New York.  When they saw the flames, they began kicking in people’s doors to warn them of the danger.  Krone Brown

Madison Police say a 21-year-old woman with a history of hit-and-run wrecks was responsible for February’s wreck that killed a man and his dog. Investigators say 21-year-old Tiambra Walker was drunk and her young child in the car when she ran down the 66-year-old man as he was walking along Schroeder Road. A Dane County mom is looking at child neglect charges after police say her four-year-old ate some marijuana gummies. Police in Oregon arrested the mom after she took her child to the emergency room in Stoughton. The mom told doctors she thought the child overdosed on marijuana gummies. The child was treated and released from the hospital. The mom was arrested and taken to jail. Prosecutors are looking at child neglect charges in the case.

The man who police say gunned down two Barron County police officers had threatened to ‘kill cops’ in the past. Court documents show that Glenn Perry threatened back in 2020 to ‘kill cops’ shortly before he was arrested for disorderly conduct and domestic abuse. Investigators say Perry gunned down officers Emily Breidenbach and Hunter Scheel during a traffic stop last Saturday. A fire results in the loss of pets along with an estimated $200,000 in damages. The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire Thursday afternoon on Eau Claire’s East side. 3 Engine Companies, 1 Truck Company, 1 Medic Company, 1 Heavy Rescue Squad, 1 fire inspector and 2 Chief officers were called to the scene. Darrell Brooks doesn’t have any money left, but if he ever gets some it will all go to his victims. Yesterday a Waukesha County judge increased Brooks’ restitution payments to over a half-million dollars. He was originally ordered to pay his victims and their insurance companies just over 171 thousand-dollars in restitution. Prosecutors said there is a chance that Brooks could sell his story and profit from it; the judge said she didn’t want that to happen. Brooks is serving
