Gov. Evers Proposal Includes Return to Free School Breakfast and Lunches

Governor Tony Evers’ proposed budget includes an item to restore the free school breakfast and lunch programs that were part of Wisconsin’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Every student in the state, regardless of their family’s financial status, could receive free school meals, through federal funding.  Department of Public Instruction Communications Director Abigail Swetz described the plan as “a no-brainer,” and called it “a great opportunity to make a difference in kids’ lives.”

Slight Dip at WI Pumps

Gas prices slipped down on Friday.  According to Triple-A, the statewide average for regular was down a penny, to three-42 a gallon.  Prices are down eight cents a gallon over the past week.  The average price in Dane County was three-40 a gallon Friday while drivers in Sauk County were paying an average of three-29 a gallon.

Congressman Pushes For Drone Rules

One of Wisconsin’s Republican members of Congress is pushing for new, federal drone rules. Congressman Mike Gallagher yesterday introduced the Drone Act. A former northwestern Wisconsin prosecutor is looking at a decade behind bars for making sex tapes with women without their knowledge.
