Wisconsin energy companies are aiming for higher rates next year.  Four companies, including Madison Gas and Electric and Alliant Energy are proposing significantly higher electricity rates for 2024.  Madison Gas and Electric wants a three-point-eight percent increase and Alliant is looking for an eight-point-four percent bump.  The Public Service Commission would have to approve any rate increase and will audit the energy companies this summer and talk to all sides before deciding whether to approve higher rates.

Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Highway 253 atSheldon Tower Drive near Sarona. Preliminary evidence from the crash scene indicates that a motorcycle was southbound on Highway 253. The motorcycle was slowing down to enter a driveway when a southbound Chevy Cruze struck it from behind. Wisconsin State Patrol Inspectors and Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash with injuries in Douglas County on US Highway 2 near County Highway U. Preliminary evidence from the crash scene indicates that a Ford Escape and black Chevy Silverado were westbound on Highway 2 approaching a red Chevy Silverado that was eastbound. The eastbound red Chevy Silverado crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the Ford Escape. The red Silverado then spun around and struck the rear of the black

 Wisconsin gas prices are back on the rise as we kick off Memorial Day weekend.  Triple-A says the statewide average is thee dollars and 57 cents a gallon, equal to the national average.  That’s also up 12 cents from this time last week.  In Madison the average is three-53 a gallon, up nine cents from last week.

A Madison man will spend six months in jail after being found guilty of using a car to pull down a statue at the Wisconsin State Capitol.  The statue of Hans Christian Heg was pulled down during protests in June of 2020.  This week Kelsey Nelson was sentenced to six months behind bars for that crime and for looting a jewelry store on State Street the month before.  He pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property and burglary.
