Brat Fest weekend is underway at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. Brats, live music, and activities run through today and the fireworks show will light up the sky over Willow Island starting at 9:05 p.m. And the fireworks aren’t the end of Brat Fest. Four companies, including Madison Gas and Electric and Alliant Energy are proposing significantly higher electricity rates for 2024. Madison Gas and Electric wants a three-point-eight percent increase and Alliant is looking for an eight-point-four percent bump. The Public Service Commission would have to approve any rate increase and will audit the energy companies this summer and talk to all sides before deciding whether to approve higher rates.
