Firebombing Suspect Wants Case Dismissed

The suspect in the firebombing of Madison’s pro-life office is looking to get his federal case dismissed. Lawyers for Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury earlier this month filed a motion that says the arson charges he is facing are unconstitutional. He is also challenging the search warrant for his home and his phone. Sorting Out New Garbage Pick Up Rules

Eau Claire’s city council has approved the plan that could change how trash is picked-up. Council members last night approved a new ordinance that they hope will modernize garbage collection. Part of the hope is to see less frequent recycling pick-up, and fewer garbage trucks on the roads. It is a process. Even though the new ordinance passed last night, it will be next year before any changes could begin.

WI Congressman Pushes For Rail Inspectors

Western Wisconsin’s congressman is pushing to add more federal rail inspectors. Congressman Derrick Van Orden yesterday introduced a plan that would spend three million-dollars to add 15 new inspectors. He says having enough rail inspectors is key to preventing, and getting answers about train derailments. Van Orden said a lack of inspectors is one reason why we still don’t have answers about the derailment in DeSoto, Wisconsin from back in April.

U.S. Senator Announces Funding for WI Dairy Industry

A $50,000 Powerball winning ticket was sold at Mega Holiday on 6126 Texaco Dr. in Eau Claire for the Monday, June 12th drawing. The winning ticket matched four of five numbers (2-3-16-23-68) plus the Powerball (7). It is the second time in a week that a Mega Holiday location and a Powerball win are making news.  Crews are cleaning-up after a weekend train derailment in Howard, but no one has yet said just what happened.
