Some downtown Eau Claire businesses are worried about plans to start charging for parking. A number of businesses are passing around a petition to ask the city council not to move ahead with plans to charge people to park downtown. City leaders say nothing has been decided yet. Upon arrival Troopers and officers found the driver with minor injuries and a female passenger who had succumbed to her injuries. The initial investigation indicates the vehicle lost control during a rainstorm, left the roadway, and struck a tree. The crash remains under investigation by the WI State Patrol.
