The focus on childhood obesity shifts to northern Wisconsin today. The Speaker’s Task Force on Obesity will hold a public meeting in Wisconsin Rapids. The idea is to hear from leaders with the Menominee Tribe about the needs on their reservation. The Task Force on Obesity is looking to make recommendations to the legislature about possible future laws that could help deal with the explosion in childhood obesity across the state.

Western Wisconsin’s congressman is condemning the violence from Hamas while on a trip to Israel. Republican Congressman Derrick Van Orden provided regular updates on Twitter throughout the weekend, including pictures of one of the settlements hit by Hamas in its attack earlier this month. Republicans at the Wisconsin Capitol are looking to use the constitution to secure that state’s election laws. The plan to spend a half-billion dollars in taxpayer money on the Brewers’ ballpark could be a done deal by the end of the week. The Wisconsin Senate is scheduled to vote on the funding package Wednesday. Lawmakers say they add a few things before the vote, including a likely tax on non-Brewer events at the ballpark. If you are grumbling about Green Bay, you aren’t alone. Green Bay lost yesterday to Denver, falling 19-17 on a Jordan Love interception with less than two minutes to go. The loss drops the Packers to 2-4 on the season, and is Green Bay’s third straight loss. The Packers lost a number of key players to injuries, and were held scoreless in the first half. A woman is dead after a crash in Anson. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Anson Fire and Rescue, and the Chippewa County Coroner’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash. Witnesses observed the vehicle traveling in the immediate area, alone, at a high rate of speed.
