We are waiting for more answers about a public embezzlement case in Vernon County. Viroqua Police last week arrested 30-year-old Kayla Fortney on charges that she stole from the county. Fortney was an administrative assistant at the county. Investigators say she took more than 10 thousand-dollars, though it’s not clear how. Fortney was in court on Friday and released on a signature bond.

Authorities yesterday identified the victims of Saturday morning’s crash as Devyn Collie Reilly and Zach Colliemoreno. They died when their plane went into Lake Winnebago. Mark Peterson and Thomas Volz died about three hours later when their copters collided. Both the FAA and the NTSB, along with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crashes.

Over 40 workers at the plant have been on strike for the past three weeks. The union for the workers wants more money and other concessions. The company says it’s made a generous offer. This is the first strike at Leinie’s since the 1980s.
Read MoreThere are literally millions more fish in Lake Michigan thanks to the state of Wisconsin. The Department of Natural Resources yesterday released the tally from its 2023 fish stocking. Wisconsin added over two-and-a-half million fish to the lake this year. That includes over a million Chinook salmon, and a half-million rainbow trout. Wisconsin also added over 370 thousand fish to Lake Superior. Most of those were brown trout and walleye.
