On 11/12/23 at approximately 1 pm, the Menomonie Police Department and Menomonie Fire and Rescue responded to the area of Walmart in North Menomonie, for a report of a car striking a person that was riding a bicycle. The male subject that was riding the pedal bicycle was transported by med- flight helicopter from the scene with serious injuries. After further investigation by officers, it was determined that the subject traveling by bicycle was traveling eastbound through the Synergy Cooperative

The new helipad for rural Rusk and Chippewa counties is now open. Leaders cut the ribbon yesterday on the landing area in Lake Holcombe. Town of Lake Holcombe Chairman Brian Guthman says the new helipad will allow paramedics to get to rural parts of the two counties much faster. A former Milwaukee police officer is walking away from charges that he choked a man to death at his home back in 2020. A jury on Friday found former officer Michael Mattioli not guilty in the death of Joel Acevedo. Prosecutors say Mattioli choked Acevedo to death following a fight at his home, but Mattioli claimed he simply tried to control Acevedo after the fight. He says he acted in self defense.

No one is saying why someone drove through a gate and on to the tarmac at La Crosse’s airport. It happened Saturday afternoon. Police say the person sped through a locked gate, then drove to a private jet and climbed on-board. There was a flight crew on the plane, but they got off. La Crosse Police rushed to the airport, and blocked the plane with a tactical vehicle. Officers eventually arrested the driver and they were taken to jail. Prosecutors

There are not yet enough votes for the Brewers’ ballpark in the State Senate. Senators are set to vote tomorrow on the plan which would spend about 500 million-dollars in taxpayer money on American Family Field and keep the Brewers in Milwaukee til 2050. Microsoft is looking to double its billion-dollar-plus investment in Mount Pleasant. The company last week announced plans to spend another one-point-four billion-dollars on its data center project. Microsoft first announced its data center plans earlier this year. This announcement is on top of that original project. The Microsoft center will be built on some of the land that was set aside for the Foxconn project. Racine County and the village of Mount Pleasant will have to agree to some development

Habitat for Humanity marked Veterans Day with a tour of homes for homeless vets. Volunteers are getting ready to turn the Grace Lutheran school near the courthouse into an apartment complex for Eau Claire’s homeless veterans/ On Saturday, Habitat offered a tour of the school and showed-off the plans. The plan is for there to be 11 apartments in the former school, and Habitat will turn the school’s basement into a community center.

The DNR is reminding hunters about the rules for riding an ATV during the upcoming deer season. The Department of Natural Resources says it remains illegal to shoot from an ATV, even if it is parked. The DNR says hunters must also unload their guns and bows while they are carrying them on an ATV. Bow season has already begun for Wisconsin deer hunters. Deer season begins on Saturday.

The Packers finally were able to score in the first half, but it was the fourth quarter that killed them. Jordan Love threw two fourth quarter interceptions to doom the Packers yesterday against the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Green Bay lost 23-19. The loss drops the Packers to 3-6 on the season. Green Bay plays the Charges next Sunday at home.
