Sun Prairie’s 70th celebration of sweet corn is going on this weekend.  The Annual Sweet Corn Festival winds up today and Sunday at Angell Park.  Corn Fest 2023 features 80 tons of Wisconsin sweet corn that’s picked day-of near Plover, up by Stevens Point, and served from noon to 7 p.m.  Activities today include a corn-eating contest, kids’ activity tent, live music, food vendors, a carnival, and beer shelter from noon to 11:30 p.m.  CLICK TO SHUCK OPEN THE INFO.

Madison is the most expensive city in America to rent a car.  A new survey by the website Cheapcarrental.net reports the cheapest car rental in Madison averages 702 dollars a week.  The next most expensive places to rent a car are Anchorage, Alaska and Spokane, Washington.

Gas Prices Slip a Bit

Gas prices are a little lower across Wisconsin this weekend.  Triple-A reports the statewide average was down a penny on Friday, to three-71 a gallon for regular.  It’s three-60 a gallon in Dane County, three-58 in Sauk County, and three-62 a gallon in Columbia County.

Traffic Violation Turns into OWI

A traffic stop turns into an OWI for a Milwaukee man. On Friday, August 18 at approximately 4:33 PM, A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped avehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 94 at milepost 56. The Trooper observed that the driver,Trayvon Thomas, showed signs of impairment. Investigation Continues Into EAA Crashes

We have a few new details, but not many answers about the two crashes at EAA in Oshkosh this year. The NTSB yesterday released an update about the crashes. Investigators say the crash that killed Devyn Collie-Reiley and Zach Colliemoreno saw the plane climb to nearly four thousand feet, before plummeting back to the earth. The other crash which killed Mark Peterson and Thomas Vol happened about 250 feet above the ground when a helicopter and a gyro-copter collided.

Search Continues For Escaped Inmate

There is a manhunt in Barron County for a woman who authorities say cut off her ankle bracelet. The Barron County Sheriff’s Department is looking for Lorie Mullins. Deputies say she cut off her ankle monitor while on work release earlier this week. She was allowed out of the county jail to go to work, but never returned. Attorneys Withdrawal Request to Leave
