Read MoreA mostly dry week across Wisconsin is causing an expansion of drought conditions. This week’s U.S. Drought Monitor map shows more extreme drought in Southwest and South-Central Wisconsin. Areas of severe drought are also expanding into more of the middle of the state. This week’s map continues to show parts of Douglas in Bayfield counties–along the Lake Superior shore–with exceptional drought. Three percent of the state is drought-free–mostly in pockets in Eastern and Western Wisconsin.

It would also let 16-year-olds by assistant child care teachers. The lawmakers say it would increase access to child care and lower its cost. The storm made landfall yesterday. The Red Cross says two of the Wisconsin volunteers are from north-central Wisconsin, one is from northeast Wisconsin and the others are from the southern part of the state.
Read MoreThe chancellor at UW-La Crosse is stepping down. Chancellor Joe Gow yesterday said he is leaving the job at the end of this school year. Gow isn’t leaving UW-La Crosse, he will remain on as a professor in the communications department. Gow is the longest-serving chancellor in the UW System, and is the second longest-serving chancellor in UW-La Crosse history. The school will start looking for a new chancellor in a few months.

The State Patrol says a truck that was carrying garbage caught on fire on the northbound off-ramp at Highway 151 yesterday afternoon. Crews dumped the garbage on the road as they tried to put-out the flames. No one was hurt, but it took some time to clean-up the garbage and get everything back to normal.

Police yesterday said they worked with police officers in Michigan to find three-year-old Charley Peeples. She went missing Tuesday while out for a ride with her grandmother. No one is saying where the little girl was, or who she was with. Appleton Police say their investigation remains ongoing.
