More than 200 people at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh are without jobs as part of a wave of layoffs. The university yesterday said it laid off 140 people, and said another 76 people accepted a voluntary retirement offer. The university is trying to close a nearly 18 million budget shortfall. There are no answers five days into Kwik Trip’s technical disruption. The company continues to say there are problems with its rewards program, and some things at some stores are unavailable. Kwik Trip  has never called the incident a hack, instead they say they are facing some challenges. Security experts aren’t so sure, they say it’s obvious something has happened. Customers say they are starting to worry if their information may have been stolen.

We are inching closer to a new concert venue as part of the Deer District. Milwaukee’s Plan Commission yesterday unanimously approved changes for a smaller version of the concert venue that would be built just south of Fiserv Forum. Eight indigenous species to Hawaii are no longer endangered–they’re now considered extinct. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said in a news release today that more than 20 species have been delisted as endangered due to extinction. That includes eight birds found in Hawaii, most of which haven’t been seen in decades. The FWS says these species will finally be delisted a month from now.

Milwaukee Police say three people were shot and killed In separate shootings between 10:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Saturday night. The sheriff in Fond du Lac County is not saying how a police dog was wounded in a weekend shootout that left a suspect dead. It happened about 6 a.m. Saturday morning after deputies got a call about a disturbance involving weapons. Deputies arrived and found a man inside a car, there was shooting, and the sheriff says the man was shot and killed. Investigators in Racine say a weekend domestic violence case ended with a deadly shooting. Police say Cash’Juan Butler shot and killed a man who was beating his female roommate. Butler told police the man he shot threw him down the stairs during the fight. Police say Butler then went and got a gun, came back and shot and killed the man. Butler ran but was arrested over the weekend. He’s expected to face homicide charges in the case.
