Another UW regional campus is ending in-person classes. UW-Green Bay at Marinette on Friday said this spring’s classes will be the last at the campus. Crews were on scene for a fire on Brackett Avenue. The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the city’s East side this morning. On arrival, Truck 5 and Medic 5 found smoke showing from the rear and one side of the home. The firefighters immediately entered the structure and found fire in the kitchen and adjacent hallways. Vice President Kamala Harris is calling the authors of the Wisconsin GOP Abortion bill “extremists.” The newly proposed legislation would ban abortions after 14 weeks with medical emergency exceptions, and would shorten the time frame for legal abortions by six weeks. Harris says the bill is an “attack on reproductive freedoms.” The Vice President is scheduled to be in Waukesha on Monday for the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the abortion ruling that was overturned by the Republican-led Supreme Court

The United States Department of Agriculture announced an additional three-and-a-half-million dollars in grants will go towards domestic biofuels. The goal is to help US consumers spend less at gas station pumps while also keeping that fuel clean and renewable. Wisconsin’s USDA State director believes this will help businesses upgrade their infrastructure and expand the availability of homegrown biofuels in Wisconsin. The funding is coming from President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
