FDA Recalls Many Products, Deaths Linked to Contaminated Dairy

The FDA has recalled nearly 60 products containing contaminated dairy. A national outbreak of listeria has been linked to cheese, yogurt, and sour cream made by Rizo-Lopez Foods and sold under over a dozen brand names. The recall has also been extended to salad kits, taco kits, and other products sold nationwide, including Walmart, Costco, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe’s. Settlement Money Lands on Anti-Vaping Efforts

Community organizations focused on addressing young people vaping will get 830-thousand dollars from a settlement. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services say thirteen grants were given out, using money from a settlement with the vaping company. The state is getting 14-point-seven-million total within the next nine years. Rogan’s Shoes Steps Into National Chain

A Wisconsin-based shoe seller is being sold to a national chain. Rogan’s Shoes has been purchased by Shoe Carnival for 45-million dollars. Rogan’s started as a family shoe store in Racine in 1971, and grew to 28 locations across Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. Shoe Carnival’s website says the company operates 429 stores in 36 states and Puerto Rico.

WI Farms Hit WI Fi Snags

Wisconsin farms are still struggling to get Internet access. The U-S Department of Agriculture says 79 percent of farms had access to the internet in 2022 compared to 76 percent in 2017. It comes as the actual number of farms with internet access fell by more than 32-hundred. The U-S-D-A says 59 percent of Wisconsin farmers get internet from a mobile provider, while 53 percent have broadband.

Arrest Made in Monroe Co. Overdose

A La Crosse man is under arrest for last November’s fentanyl overdose that killed a Sparta woman. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office yesterday said deputies arrested 18-year-old Malik Guerra for first-degree reckless homicide. Investigators say he sold the drugs that killed a 41-year-old woman from Sparta. Guerra is being held on 10 thousand-dollars cash bail.
