Suspect Charged With Murdering Sibling Will Stand Trial

 The man charged with murdering his adopted sister in Janesville is found competent to stand trial. Twenty-year-old Dayveon Lathrop is accused of killing the eight-year-old girl in their family home and hiding her body. The judge says he will go to trial after multiple competency exams were done. His bail was set at one-point-five-million dollars yesterday. He’ll be in court again June 7th.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) today announced that Wisconsin ranked number two throughout the country for the most prescription medications collected during the spring 2024 Drug Take Back. Village of Cadott Board to Vote on Sale of Electric Utility

The Village of Cadott (Cadott) announced today that its  board will vote at its regularly scheduled Monday, June 3, 2024, meeting on a preliminary agreement for  the sale of Cadott’s electric utility to Chippewa Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC). Suspicious Substance Cleared, No Danger

Someone mailed something to the NBC affiliate in Eau Claire. Station managers at WEAU yesterday said someone mailed a suspicious substance to the station. That forced an evacuation, and brought Eau Claire firefighters rushing to the station. The substance turned out to be what firefighters are calling a ‘non-hazardous food substance.’ No one was hurt, and everything then returned to normal.
