  General aid payments to Wisconsin schools will increase for the 2024-2025 school year. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction says estimated aid is about five-point-six billion dollars — more than a four percent increase from last school year. About 290 school districts are expected to get more aid this year compared to last. The amount of aid a district gets is based on property valuation, enrollment, and shared costs. Wisconsin troopers will be in buses and large trucks to watch drivers from a higher vantage point during a campaign in mid-July. Wisconsin State Patrol says the Trooper in a Truck campaign focuses on highways and aims to reduce crashes and injuries involving commercial trucks. In the last five years, there has been an average of seven-thousand crashes involving large trucks in Wisconsin. Seventy people died in those crashes. The campaign will run from July 8th until the 12th.

Wisconsin schools will get more than 400-thousand dollars for manufacturing training. The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development says more than 46-hundred students in 17 school districts will benefit from the funding. Trainings include education on 3D printing, operating drones, and welding, along with other skills.

The cheese puns are getting cheddar by the minute since the Eau Claire Police Department reported a drive-by cheesing. Officers say they were called just before ten last night about one driver chasing another — and throwing cheese at their car. Investigators yesterday said an early Sunday morning fire in Necedah killed Pastor Steve Witte and five other members of his family. Two people who were inside the home managed to make it out. Elijah Vue’s mother is ready to plead guilty in her neglect case. Katrina Bauer was in court yesterday. Her lawyers have set a plea hearing for July 18th. It’s not clear just what she will plead to, or what kind of conditions will be attached to her plea. Bauer is being held on child neglect charges in the disappearance of her three-year-old son. Threats to the school in Chippewa will now be handled according to a new plan. The city’s school’s board last night approved a new threat policy. It lays out the steps the school will take when there is a threat to a local school, including whether and how to tell parents.
