Train Hits Milestone

The new Amtrak train running between Saint Paul and Chicago through Wisconsin has had 100-thousand riders. Amtrak says the Borealis line reached the milestone in less than six months of operation. The trains stop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Dells, and La Crosse daily. Every passenger on the celebratory ride today got an extra 500 Amtrak rewards points and a 100 Grand candy bar.

Conservation Projects Get Financial Boost

Twelve nature conservation projects across Wisconsin are getting more than seven-million dollars in funding. The Department of Natural Resources says grants are coming from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program. Beloit will get more than three-quarters-of-a-million dollars to complete Riverwalk construction downtown, and Milwaukee gets more than 400-thousand for a paved walking loop at Metcalfe Playfield. Other projects include recreational boating facilities and park land development.

UW-River Falls Agriculture Programs Ranked First, Second Nationally

 Agriculture programs at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls have placed first and second nationally in recent college rankings, evidence of the university’s renowned agriculture coursework. The university’s dairy science program is the top program of its kind among U.S. colleges, according to College Raptor, a college search and comparison organization. Buffalo Co. Death Investigation, Animal Rescue Continues

We are getting some more answers about a death investigation in Buffalo County. The sheriff’s office says deputies went to serve an eviction notice on Wednesday, that’s when they found a 57-year-old woman who’d died. Investigators say she was likely dead for more than a month. Gavel Drops: Man Sentenced in Home Invasion

It’s 12 years in prison for one of the suspects in Barron County’s home invasion last year. A judge yesterday sentenced Ricardo Dominguez to a dozen years in prison for tying-up a 70-year-old man in his home, tazing him, and eventually robbing him of guns and 13-thousand-dollars in cash. New Police Video Editing Law Raises Questions

There are worries about Wisconsin’s new law that allows police to charge for edited body camera video. Trump Returns to WI, Green Bay Rally Planned

Former President Trump will campaign in Green Bay next week. The Trump campaign says he’ll speak about the economy and how he plans to lower costs for families.
