The top eight finalists for the Coolest Thing Made In Wisconsin contest have been chosen. More than 130 products were initially nominated to be part of the bracket-style contest. Burger seasoning, lawn tractors, soda, military medals, and benches are some of the products included in the top eight. The public can vote in the second round of the contest until next Tuesday. There will be a change in leadership in the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office. A letter outlining the Governors appointment for Taylor County Sheriff was released today by current Sheriff Larry Woebbeking, who is retiring on December 31st and the Governor has selected his replacement. It will be Chief Deputy Corey Dassow who will be taking over the roll as Sheriff of Taylor County as of January 1st. 2025.

There’s a warning about fake 20 dollar bills in Chetek. Police yesterday said someone turned in ‘several’ fake 20 dollar bills. Officers say they found some others in the street. The money is clearly fake, it’s labeled Copy Money on the front. Police are telling local businesses to be on the lookout for the fake bills, but there haven’t yet been any reports of anyone trying to use it.

The latest Marquette Law School Poll gives Kamala Harris a four point lead in the race for the White House. The new poll, which was released yesterday, isn’t any different than the last poll. Pollsters say Harris leads with both registered voters and likely voters. The poll does say former President Trump leads when it comes to the issues like the economy and the border and immigration. Xcel Energy crews are on their way to the hurricane zone. A team of linemen left Eau Claire yesterday, they are on their way to Georgia. Xcel says the Eau Claire crew will join about 200 others who are already on the ground in Georgia, dealing with the damage from Hurricane Helene. Xcel said it expects the crews to be gone for two weeks. Yesterday’s crews are heading to Augusta, where 100-thousand people don’t have power.

Kwik Trip is seventh on the list of best gas stations/convenience stores in America. The American Customer Satisfaction Index is out with a new customer survey that puts Kwik Trip in the top ten, but behind its Midwestern rival Casey’s. Wawa is the top gas station/convenience store on the Customer Satisfaction list followed by QuickTrip out of Oklahoma, and Buc-ee’s out of Texas. Both the Democratic and Republican Presidential nominees will return to Wisconsin in the next week. Vice President Kamala Harris will speak in the Fox Valley tomorrow afternoon, but an exact location and time has not been announced. It’ll be her fifth visit to Wisconsin since she started her presidential campaign. Former President Donald Trump will speak at the Dodge County Airport in Juneau on Sunday. He was in both Waunakee and Milwaukee yesterday.

Three family members are under arrest in Jackson County and accused of sexually assaulting a girl. Fred Hill and his wife, Sara Hill, are charged along with their 18-year-old son, Levi Moore. Investigators say an eight-year-old girl reported numerous sexual assaults by each of the three suspects. They’ll all be in court on October 21.
