The price for regular gas is down a penny from a week ago.  Triple A says the average price statewide is two-dollars-and-80, while the national average is two-83.  The lowest average prices in the state are found in the Janesville-Beloit area at two-68 a gallon.  Drivers in Eau Claire are again paying the most at two-93 for a gallon of regular gas

A man will spend two months in jail after trying to set up a sexual encounter with an underage girl.  Jarad Bischoff was also in possession of child porn.  After he gets out of jail, he must register as a sex offender.  The Fall Creek man was busted after trying to meet a 13-year-old that was actually an undercover officer.

Authorities in Pierce County are investigating the seizure of abused animals and the possible link with a dog fighting ring.  The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office recovered over 13-hundred animals from a property in Gilman Township last week.  It’s believed the chickens and dogs rescued were being bred for fighting.  A conviction for promoting animal fighting in our state carry a prison term of nearly four years and a ten-thousand-dollar fine.

A Stabbing in Nelson sends one to the hospital. It was about 8 yesterday morning when the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 65 year old man who had been stabbed at his home. The suspect fled the scene after slashing the victim’s tires. 36 year old Kenneth Teel was eventually taken into custody after being located walking in the lane of traffic on Highway 25 near County Highway KK with a knife. Governor Scott Walker says nearly 560-thousand eligible families filed for the child tax rebate.  Almost 95-million-dollars was returned to families through the rebate program, which ran between May 15th and July 2nd. Wisconsi’s Child Sales Tax Rebate and the Back to School Sales Tax Holiday were both adopted because of a state budget surplus of almost 400-million-dollars at the end of the 2017 fiscal year. 

Governor Walker says flood damage has topped more than two-hundred-million-dollars as a result of storms over the last three weeks.  Nearly 100-million-dollars is damage to homes, about 41-million-dollars in damages to business and nearly 67-million-dollars in damage to public buildings and infrastructure.  The figures are expected to rise as full damage estimates have not been received. 

We now have more information on the Eau Claire Police Officer involved in a domestic incident. It was just after 4 on the morning of August 31st when members of the Eau Claire Police Department were called to a hospital for a woman who was dropped off by an unknown male with severe head trauma and was listed in critical condition. Mother Nature’s hissy fit with the rain is now causing some travel headaches here on the ground. A highway in Eau Claire County is closed due to flooding.  Emergency management officials say Highway H is closed between Channey Forest Road and Roack Dam Road because of flooding on the bridge.
