MAN GETS OWI WITH CHILD IN CAR

An Indiana man was arrested for OWI with a child in the car. It was just after midnight yesterday when 24 year old  Duke Latrell Bush was stopped for speeding. A subsequent investigation revealed that Latrell was driving under the influence of a drug and he was taken to Dunn County Jail. A 4 year child was in the vehicle. The child and Latrell’s vehicle was removed from the scene by another adult passenger in the vehicle.

SENATOR RON JOHNSON TO SEND STAFF TO CHIPPEWA COUNTY

Senator Ron Johnson says his staff will be available to help people, especially those needing assistance with federal agencies.  Senator said today his staff will be in 18 different counties over the next two weeks offering mobile office hours to residents.  Staffers will be in Buffalo and Monroe counties tomorrow and Washburn, Chippewa and Juneau counties on Friday.  All hours and locations are available HERE on Senator Johnson’s website.

OFFICER ACCIDENT IN FRIENDSHIP, WI

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating an accident that injured two, on-duty officers in the town of Friendship. The accident happened yesterday on Lake Shore Drive.  A detective who was driving was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries and released today.  The other detective and the driver of the second vehicle were treated and released from the hospital yesterday.

MISSING BARRON COUNTY TEEN; NATIONWIDE AMBER ALERT

A nationwide AMBER Alert is in effect as deputies search for a missing teenage girl after her parents were found dead inside their Barron home.  Officials say autopsies have been scheduled for 56-year-old James Closs and 46-year-old Denise Closs.  Authorities are continuing the death investigation, but the main focus is locating 13-year-old Jayme Closs, the couple’s teen daughter-she is not considered a suspect in the deaths and they fear she may be in danger.

ABSENTEE VOTING UNDERWAY

As the political ping pong continues, as creep closer to heading into the voting booths and The City of Eau Claire is releasing details on in-person absentee voting for November’s election.  That actually got underway yesterday and will last through November 2nd. You can head in to do that on weekdays during business hours at Downtown City Hall. Those registered to vote will need valid photo ID-just a reminder of that.  Voters can also request to have an absentee ballot

FLORIDA MAN PICKS UP 6TH OWI IN WI

A Florida man is facing charges in Eau Claire for driving under the influence.  Authorities say the 59-year-old man was charged yesterday with his sixth OWI.  When he was pulled over early Sunday morning, officers say they smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from his truck.  The man told officers he was coming from his son’s wedding and had consumed beer and whiskey.  He failed his field sobriety tests and was arrested.

WI GOES GREEN

Wisconsin ended the most recent state fiscal year with a positive balance of $588.5 million and grew the state Budget Stabilization Fund to a record-high $320.1 million, according to the new Annual Fiscal Report released today by the state Department of Administration (DOA). ROAD BUDGET UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Governor Walker wants to increase town road maintenance funds.  The governor says he’ll propose raising support from 42-percent to 58-percent in the next state budget.  If approved, that would mean the state would cover about 33-hundred-dollars a mile to improve town roads as opposed to the current 24-hundred-dollars.

NEW FLIGHT LANDS

A new nonstop flight is scheduled between Madison and Los Angeles.  The Dane County Regional Airport announced today the new nonstop United Airlines flight will start in late March.  The daily flight will leave Madison around 3:30 in the afternoon and tickets are now available.

RED, WHITE, AND….FLU?

The Wisconsin Health Department is urging people to start the week planning to get a flu shot.  The CDC estimates the flu kills about 36-thousand people a year in the United States.  There were record hospitalizations for the flu last year in Wisconsin and it was one of the worst years for flu in about a decade.  The state does not currently track adult deaths, but three children died from flu in Wisconsin this past season.
