ONE ARRESTED, ONE SUSPECT AT LARGE AFTER EAU CLAIRE SHOOTING INCIDENT

We now know names of those involved in a shooting that happened over the weekend. TRIAL UNDERWAY

A trial is underway for a man accused of killing a Rusk County deputy.  A recording was played in court yesterday that was part of a call Deputy Dan Glaze made to a fellow deputy the night he was killed.  The jury also heard details surrounding the death of Glaze.  The trial is set to last until October 5th.

WI POSIONING

At least 16 people in our state have been sickened in the last month by rat poison in synthetic marijuana products.  The outbreak began in March, when one person died and at least 80 people had severe bleeding from consuming the poison.  Victims include people from age 16 to over 59.

THUMBS UP FOR LOCAL DEVELOPER

A proposal to convert a former Eau Claire nursing home into upscale apartments is at its final stage of approval.  The Eau Claire Plan Commission gave its thumbs up for local developers to move forward with plans to convert the former Syverson Lutheran Home into a nearly 50-unit luxury apartment building.  The apartments will range in size from studio to three bedroom penthouse apartments overlooking Owen Park and the river.

Year round school? Did I just hear cheers or jeers? Well, in LACrosse…it’s the green light! Northside Elementary School in La Crosse is planning to change its school schedule to year-round starting in 2019.  The school announced plans yesterday to go to a 45 days in-class, 15 days off schedule. They aren’t alone, Hamilton Elementary School is the only other school in the La Crosse district that has a year-round schedule.

The latest Marquette Law School poll of likely voters in Wisconsin shows Democratic challenger Tony Evers leading incumbent Scott Walker in the race for governor.  Evers has a five-point-lead with 49-percent support compared to Walker’s 44-percent.  The poll released today surveyed 614 people last week.    In the race for U.S. Senate, the New Marquette Law School poll shows incumbent Senator Tammy Baldwin with an eleven-point lead over Republican Leah Vukmir.  The poll surveyed just over 600 likely voters in Wisconsin.  Baldwin also had

FEMA TO ASSESS FLOOD DAMAGE

Governor Scott Walker says FEMA will conduct preliminary damage assessments in 17 Wisconsin counties.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency will start looking at flood-damaged homes and public infrastructure next week.  The teams will evaluate damage from the outside and will not be entering any homes.  There was nearly 110-million-dollars in damage to residences and over 75-million-dollars in damage to infrastructure following the severe flooding and tornadoes the past six weeks.

A green alert is issued for a missing Veteran. 38 year old Nicholas Wagener was last seen in the City of Eau Claire on September 5th. Wagener was riding a bright green bicycle and had a large backpack with him. HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN TOMAH

Authorities are investigating after human remains were found in Tomah.  Police say the remains were found late yesterday morning in the 700 block of Townline.  It could now be a lengthy process to positively identify the remains.
