Chippewa County is continuing to fight an invasive species of trees infesting parks and the community. Officials are treating trees in Irvine Park that are affected by the emerald ash borer. The invasive beetle kills ash trees by disrupting the tree’s ability to transport water and nutrients. Eradicating the species has been a joint effort between Parks officials and local residents.

An employee at Earley Drywall says he came to work last week and saw over 300 needles containing drug substances. The police department is currently investigating, but hasn’t found the person responsible. A local health professional says contracting various diseases is the biggest risk involved with the illegal dumping.
