ALBINO NO-NO

Wisconsin DNR officials are investigating the illegal shooting of an albino deer.  The pure white female was found on the side of Hilldale Road in Lafayette County on Sunday.  Albino deer are protected wild animals in Wisconsin and it’s a crime to shoot or harvest them.  Anyone who may have information about the shooting of this rare deer is asked to contact the DNR.

KANGAROO KILLED IN HIT AND RUN

Authorities in Shawano County are looking for a hit-and-run driver in a crash that injured a man and killed a pet kangaroo.  County deputies answered a call in Waukechon last night about a crash near the intersection of Porter and Valley roads.  The pet kangaroo had escaped its home a few days ago.  A man spotted the animal near the intersection and tried to get it to come closer.  However a woman driving a pickup truck failed to see him

LANDLORD FACES FELONY CHARGES

A Rusk County landlord is facing a felony charge after being accused of putting a spy-camera in the bathroom of one of his tenants.  A criminal complaint claims a woman who rents from 57-year-old Randy Berthold found a camera in a drawer in her bathroom with several videos of her taken without her permission back in October.  WEAU reports Berthold admitted to the claims made by the woman.  He’s expected in court on December 11th.

JAIL AND PROBATION FOR EC MAN AFTER POLICE CHASE

A man will do four months in Eau Claire County jail after leading police on a chase through multiple counties. Twenty-five-year-old Bryont Holmes pleaded no contest to three charges stemming from the June incident including stealing a car, fleeing police, and driving without a license.  After his jail sentence, he will serve 36 months on probation.

Top Senate Republican Scott Fitzgerald is acknowledging that a key benefit of moving the date of Wisconsin’s 2020 presidential primary would be to help a conservative-backed judge win election to the state Supreme Court.  The Senate Majority Leader also said yesterday that an extraordinary legislative session could happen as soon as next week.  The session would be the last chance for Republicans to pass laws while Scott Walker is governor.

HUNTERS RACK UP BIG NUMBERS

Harvest numbers are up for this year’s Wisconsin gun deer season.  Hunters registered about seven percent more deer than last year.  Officials believe mild temperatures on opening day and a high deer population contributed to the higher harvest rates.

STATE GAMBLES WITH CASINO LEGISLATION

Governor Walker and the Forest County Potawatomi are submitting a new amendment to the gaming compact between the tribe and the state.  The amendment would withhold up to 250-million-dollars from the state if the tribe suffers losses from a competitor’s casino being built.  If the agreement is approved by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, it would end continuing negotiations that started more than a decade ago.

HEALING CONTINUES FOR LOCAL GIRL SCOUT

A Girl Scout who survived a deadly hit-and-run crash in Lake Hallie is out of the hospital.  Officials say Madalyn Zwiefelhofer left the hospital last week after undergoing numerous procedures. Madalyn underwent open heart surgery and treatment for two broken legs, a displaced pelvis, a broken cheekbone, a broken wrist, a broken arm, cuts in her kidney and spleen, and many other cuts and bruises.  She also suffered a brain bleed which kept her in the hospital longer.  Three other
