CHASE LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS

There was some action with the blue and red lights on I-94 last night and it ended with multiple arrests. WEAU 13 News reports the incident began around 4:30 p.m. yesterday in Lake Hallie, which then led officers on a chase that ended on I-94 near Foster. According to the Lake Hallie Police Department, the incident started as a theft case when people left the scene. Multiple agencies are investigating.

A “WHEEL” WIN FOR LOCAL ROADS

It was a WHEEL big win for local roads last night as Eau Claire County will be implementing a new 30-dollar wheel tax.  The fee got the green light by the County Board lastnight and passed on right by a vote of 20 to nine.  Vehicles such as motorcycles, mopeds, and motor homes will be exempt.  Officials say the fee will help raise over two million dollars for county highways. ECPD UPDATE

The Eau Claire Police Chief is clearing an officer in connection with a deadly 2017 officer-involved shooting.  The verdict is that Sergeant Jesse Henning was justified in using deadly force against Michael Caponigro.  That incident happened a year ago at a home in the 45-hundred block of Woodford Court, when Caponigro fired on officers during negotiations in a standoff with police.  Henning then shot him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Glen Loch may be on lock down, as Chippewa Falls is considering preventing access to a popular swimming spot.  The city says Glen Loch Dam isn’t safe because of accidents and drownings that have happened through the years.  The issue has become important recently, because work is underway at the adjacent Erickson Park, making Glen Loch Dam more enticing. BUTTER BURGERS WORK FOR BETTER

The Sun Prairie volunteer fire department is back to full staff after an explosion that rocked downtown, killing one of their own and critically injuring another firefighter. Other departments in the area are helping to fill shifts during the interim as Sun Prairie mourns its loss. Captain Cory Barr was killed in the explosion last week, and Ryan Welch was critically injured. FOXCONN IN EC

Foxconn is purchasing two properties in the downtown area of Eau Claire.  Governor Walker and Foxconn officials announced the purchases at Phoenix Park yesterday. The company is buying a six-story office building on Grand Avenue along with the majority of the first floor at Haymarket Landing.  Officials say the new technology hub will bring 150 high-tech jobs to the Chippewa Valley.
