WI RAPIDS MAN GUILTY OF KILLING SON

A Wisconsin Rapids man is guilty of killing his 15-month-old son over spilled milk.  Prosecutor say James Georgeson reached the plea deal with Wood County prosecutor’s yesterday and was found guilty of second-degree reckless homicide.  Autopsy results in 2017 indicated the baby boy died of a brain hemorrhage from being shaken.

WI BUSINESS EXPANSION

Governor Scott Walker says three businesses are expanding in Wisconsin.  Total Administrative Service Corporation, which was founded in Stevens Point in 1975, is expanding to create 80 jobs in Madison over the next three years.  Rubber and plastics manufacturer, Lavelle Industries is planning a 14-million-dollar investment that will create 70 new jobs at its Burlington headquarters.  And yesterday, Klement’s Sausage Company broke ground to celebrate expansion of it’s facility in Milwaukee.

 The Green Bay Packers are hosting a Halloween Spooktacular event.  The family-friendly event is this Saturday in the Lambeau Field Atrium from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  It will feature music, Halloween crafts stations and a hay-bale maze outside the Miller Lite gate.  The event is free.

CITY HALL MAKEOVER TO GET UNDERWAY

Building Services Supervisor Rodney Bonesteel is hoping the City Hall renovation will make the building more functional for the public.  Bonesteel toured the site of the multi-million dollar, three-year renovation yesterday.  Crews are addressing everything from leaky ceilings to better windows.  Modernization will also make the building more accessible for the disabled and add an advanced sprinkler system.

WALKER TALKS JOBS IN THE VALLEY

Governor Walker is talking about the employment rate during a visit to the Chippewa Valley.  Walker attended the 50th anniversary celebration for Chippewa River Industries yesterday and said that employers say the biggest challenge is finding employees.  CRI is a private nonprofit providing subcontract packaging and assembly services.

A Candidates Energy Forum is giving candidates a chance to speak on a variety of topics.  The forum was hosted yesterday morning at the Florian Gardens, and candidates for the Wisconsin State Senate and Assembly were invited to speak.  Questions centered around the value of regulation along with electricity and Wisconsin’s economy.

The Eau Claire Housing Authority is releasing its annual performance report.  The group held a public meeting yesterday to discuss the report which included details about where grant funds were allocated.  Grant funds added up to more than 800-thousand dollars and went toward housing services, public facilities and improvements, and housing rehabilitation programs.

TWO MEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER EC DRUG DEAL

An Eau Claire woman is recovering from being grazed by a bullet in an incident involving a drug deal. Police say Damon Clark and Marcus Wells were taken into custody yesterday and charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety after they allegedly shot at a man in self defense over a bad drug deal, grazing the bystander.  The woman was treated by EMS at the scene of the incident.  The two men are facing up to seven years in prison.

MENOMONIE MAN CHARGED; CHILD ENTICEMENT

A Menomonie man will get jail time and probation after being found guilty of exposing himself to a child.  Thirty-two-year-old Dang Hang was sentenced yesterday to one year in jail and four years of probation on one count of child enticement for an incident involving a child he used to babysit.  He previously had three counts of exposure and one count of sexual assault dismissed and has apologized for his actions.

An Eau Claire man is going to prison after his 16th drunken driving conviction.  Sixty-three-year-old Bradley Armstrong was sentenced to at least four years in prison yesterday after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated, but could of received up to 15 years.  Police say Armstrong told a witness that he was driving drunk after he was seen pulling into a random person’s driveway and yard, nearly causing damage.  Police arrived and took Armstrong into custody.  His blood alcohol level was
