TINSEL AND TIDINGS SUPPORTS MIGHTY MADDY’S MISSION

A Christmas celebration is supporting children battling cancer.  The first ever Tinsel and Tidings event included cookie decorating, ornament making, and a decorated Christmas tree raffle.  All funds raised went to Mighty Maddy’s Mission,an organization that provides children fighting cancer with birthday parties in the hospital, presents on treatment days, and orientation baskets for families after their child is diagnosed.  The group is names after Madelyn Odegard,who lost her fight with cancer in August 2017.

HSHS SACRED HEARTS LIGHTS UP HEARTS

Volunteer Partners of HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital are sponsoring the 33rd annual Love-Light Christmas Tree.  The organization held an outdoor lighting ceremony last night at the hospital.  For a ten dollar donation, individuals can memorialize a loved one or honor a relative by reserving a light on the tree.  White lights represent a deceased adult, blue lights are for a deceased child, and red and green ones are for a living relative or friend.  Gold lights are reserved for veterans

UW AIMS TO SAVE STUDENTS SOME BUCKy’S

Some lucky bucky’s as a change should save students some bucks. Madison College is implementing a new textbook rental program. Starting in 2019, students will pay no more than seven-dollars per credit to rent the books they need at no extra charge for the semester.  So for example, if a student takes 12 credits,they will pay 84-dollars for books.  Some students have expressed relief over the new program saying they will actually be able to eat more regularly now that

FLAGS LOWER TO HONOR FORMER PRESIDENT

Flags are being flown at half staff around the state of Wisconsin following the death of former President George H.W. WI WINTER IS HERE…

Another dose of winter weather is moving across central and northeastern Wisconsin this weekend.  The National Weather Service says those areas will see some accumulating snow and wintry mix tomorrow and Sunday.  Several inches are possible north and west of the Fox Valley.  Areas around Madison and Milwaukee will see little snow, but freezing rain is possible.

PUMP PRICES SLIDE DOWN

 The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Wisconsin is down nine-cents from a week ago.  Triple-A says the average price statewide is two-dollars-and-37-cents today, while the national average is two-49.  The lowest prices are posted in Kenosha County at two-21-a-gallon.  Drivers in Superior are paying the most at the pump at two-63.

PILEUP CRASH IN JACKSON COUNTY

 Several vehicles are damaged and a Wisconsin State Trooper had to run into a ditch following a pileup crash in Jackson County.  The state patrol says a car swerved and ended up in the median on Interstate-94 in Northfield Wednesday night causing a chain reaction of accidents.  While a trooper was assisting with the wreck, seven semi trucks and multiple other vehicles crashed into the car and forced the trooper to run into a nearby ditch.  Two people had to be taken

MENOMONIE POLICE WARN PUBLIC AFTER SERIES OF HOME BREAK-INS

The Menomonie Police Department is giving some safety tips following another suspected home burglary.  The department says a burglar used an item to break a window at the home and sneak in and steal several items inside.  Police are reminding residents that they should install some form of light outside their house in order to detract home invaders.  Residents are also being asked to make sure they report any suspicious activity.
