EC MAN FACING CHILD ASSAULT CHARGES

An Eau Claire man is facing a charge in Buffalo County of sexually assaulting a child. Authorities say 53-year-old Charles Fedie has admitted to sexually assaulting two younger males in Buffalo County around 30 years ago.  He also faces charges in Eau Claire County of possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child.  He is set to appear in court in Eau Claire WCounty next week.

LOCAL ATTORNEY OFFERS CLARIFICATION ON LOCAL INFANT DEATH CASE

A local attorney is weighing in on an infant death case involving a ten-year-old suspect. Authorities say the girl confessed to stomping the six-month-old’s head after the child hit its head on a footstool and started crying.  Local defense attorney Harry Hertel says the case is currently in adult court because of an exception for intentional homicide charges.  Hertel says the case could be returned to juvenile court because of the girl’s age, if she has mental health issues or doesn’t

SOMETHING TO BARK A”BOAT”

The public is providing feedback on a proposal for a new dog park and boat launch in southwest Eau Claire.  The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Division held a meeting last night to encourage public comment on the proposal.  Officials are hoping to begin the approval process through the plan commission, parks and waterways, and finally the Eau Claire City Council in early 2019.

NO RE-ELECTION FOR STROBEL

An Eau Claire City Council Alderman will not be running for re-election. David Strobel says he promised his family and employees that he would serve only two three-year terms, which he has done.  He will serve through the April 2nd election.  The newly elected candidate will begin serving April 16th.

COMMUNITY SCORES FOR GIRL SCOUTS

The Chippewa Falls boys hockey team is supporting the community following a hit-and-run in Lake Hallie that killed three Girl Scouts and a troop mother.  All Girl Scouts wearing their uniforms and their parents were allowed into last night’s game for free.  Hockey parents sold green ribbons to help raise money for the Girl Scouts.  A special ceremony was held at the end of the first period of the varsity game, where all Girl Scouts were invited onto the ice.

LAST MINUTE DEAL TO KEEP BUSINESS IN WI

Kimberly Clark is getting at least 25-million-dollars in tax breaks over the next five years.  The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the last minute deal comes after Republican leaders couldn’t find enough votes to pass a larger package to keep the company in the Fox Valley.  The governor was able to strike the deal with Kimberly-Clark without seeking approval from the legislature because it was smaller than the last proposal.

A says more than a third of Americans will travel by train, plane or automobile this holiday season.  In a report today, Triple-A says more than two-point-three-million Wisconsinites will getaway from home.  That’s nearly five-percent more than last year.   Nationwide more than 112-million people are expected to travel.

SEMI CRASH CLOSES I94 FOR 3 HOURS

No one is injured after a three-semi truck crash caused a shutdown on Interstate-94 early yesterday morning.  The Wisconsin State Patrol says one semi went through the median near MM115 in Black River Falls and hit a cable barrier and drug it across the highway as it came to a rest in a ditch.  Two other semis then hit the barrier causing I-94 westbound to be briefly rerouted.  The first truck spilled a large amount of paper it had been

HOMELESS EAU CLAIRE MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD PORN

A homeless man in Eau Claire is accused of having more than 50 images of child pornography on a cell phone.  Police say they received a cyber tip about 33-year-old Bradley Stevens and a search warrant linked his email to a Google account that indicated child porn images had been uploaded to it.  Stevens was arrested on December 2nd.  He is charged with five counts of possessing child porn.

BARABOO UNDER INVESTIGATION AGAIN

Local, state, and federal authorities are investigating after an anti-Semitic video was posted on social media in Baraboo.  The seven-minute video satirizes the controversy around the Baraboo high school students who were criticized for appearing to hold up a Nazi salute in a picture earlier this year.  The video also warns viewers to stay home on December 18th and fliers have been seen around the city with the same warning.  The Baraboo police chief says he already has extra security
