PEP PLANNED FOR THE PACK

A pep rally this week is just one of the events planned as Packer fans get ready for the NFC Championship Game.  Green Bay took care of business against the Seattle Seahawks yesterday and earned a matchup against the 49ers in San Francisco on Sunday. The winner advances to the Super Bowl in Miami.  A pep rally is set for 3:30 Friday afternoon at the Packers Heritage Trail Plaza at Washington and Cherry Street.

John Snyder, longtime Regis High School Track & Field and Cross Country head coach, has announced he is stepping down from both positions.Snyder spent 35 years involved with both programs. SOMEBODY BIT THE “BULLITT”

A famous Mustang Bullitt GT has been sold to a mystery buyer for millions.  Sean Kiernan put the 1968 vehicle that was driven by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt on the auction block in Florida on Sunday.  The car sat in Kiernan’s family’s garage for 40 years and then spent two years touring the world.  The pony car sold at auction to an anonymous bidder for three-point-four-million-dollars.  Kiernan said that once the bidding started “it was like an eleven-minute-rock

SQUAD CAR DAMAGED IN BARRON CO. CHASE

An early morning chase damaged a squad car in Barron County. It was on Sunday, January 12, a bit after 4 a.m when a Barron County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for several traffic violations in the Village of Cameron. The vehicle failed to stop for the deputy and a chase ensued with speeds around 100mph. IMMIGRATION RAID LEADS TO CUSTODY

Multiple restaurant employees are in custody after an immigration raid in Bloomer.  Police say Immigration Customs Enforcement arrested three workers at Casa Mexicana last week, forcing the restaurant to close down for three days.  No other details about the raid have been announced.

LA CROSSE HOME DAMAGED IN FIRE

No one is hurt from a weekend house fire in La Crosse.  Reports say the fire broke out Saturday afternoon on the first floor of a house in the 21-hundred block of Winnebago Street.  The fire was put out quickly but not before moderate damage was done to the house.  The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE: 01. 14. 2020: In regard to the train derailment incident East of Knapp, US Highway 12 has been reopened. It’s going to be a little while before everything is cleaned-up along the railroad tracks near the Village of Knapp. A Union Pacific train derailed there yesterday afternoon. Eau Claire’s push to replace lead pipes across the city could have some homeowners looking at a new bill. The city council is set to vote tomorrow on a plan to replace about 800 lead pipes across the city. The fear is that lead pipes can be dangerous for some children.
