The Eau Claire city council will make its decision on what to do with the Roosevelt-State Street intersection tonight. The council met last night where it heard public testimony on future construction for the area. A roundabout was originally planned, but the council reversed that decision last month. It will vote on a new plan tonight.

The general transportation money is earmarked to help local governments keep-up with their needs. The new budget also includes about 33-million-dollars a year in new money for local governments, that money will start to be paid after the first of the year.

City Council President Terry Weld says the cameras alone would cost 230-thousand-dollars, but the maintenance could cost 150-thousand-dollars a piece over the next four years. Weld says Eau Claire doesn’t have that kind of money to spend.
