Empty Bowls will be held on Thursday, March 5 at The Florian Gardens from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The popular event helps Feed My Peopl good bank provide food to families in our community. Guests dine on locally made soup, specialty breads and desserts. Those who purchase a bowl ticket are invited to choose a handcrafted bowl to take home as well. Nathan Homme pleaded guilty to burglary in January and was sentenced Monday to ten years of supervised probation and a 21-month stayed prison sentence. A criminal complaint says Homme broke into his ex-wife’s house in Shoreview, Minnesota about a year ago. Police say they found syringes, vials, cash, multiple guns, and what they’ve called a kidnapping kit in his Altoona apartment.

The city’s planning commission last night voted to help the private foundation that is looking to improve the historic baseball stadium. The plan is to upgrade the bleachers and the restrooms. The foundation has said it is about 700 thousand-dollars short of its three million-dollar goal.
