A Eau Claire man looking at sexual assault charges and his sixth OWI conviction skipped-out on his sentencing in Chippewa County. The sheriff says 45-year-old Jason Lucht was due to be sentenced yesterday, but he never showed-up. There’s now a warrant out for his arrest. Lucht was arrested in February of last year for drunk driving and grabbing a woman in his car. That arrest came less than a year after his fifth OWI conviction.

According to the county health department, 87-percent of students were up to date on their vaccinations in the 2018-2019 school year, a drop from the previous school year. The Center for Disease Control also reports the percentage of people declining vaccinations for personal, religious, or medical reasons in the state rose from just over one-and-a-half-percent to over five-percent.

One such bill would make a person’s first OWI a criminal offense and give a five-year mandatory sentence to anyone who kills someone in a drunk-driving crash.
